Gospel
John 19:25-27
How that loving mother was pierced with grief and anguish when she saw the sufferings of her Son (Stabat Mater).
Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.
Reflection
I can still picture there was Jesus on the cross in agony and about to die. Despite all this he was still able to ask our mother Mary to take the disciples as her sons and to the disciples her mother. To me that moment is a moment of love.
When we are faced with trials and obstacles are we able to express love? If we cant, go back to this passage.
Let us pray
Oh Lord Jesus by telling our Mother Mary and the disciples they are now mother and son despite suffering on the cross, you have send a powerful message. Never forsake love no matter how difficult life is. Grant we pray we will continue to love everyone no matter what the circumstances is.
Amen
