Matthew 8:18-22
The Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head

When Jesus saw the great crowds all about him he gave orders to leave for the other side. One of the scribes then came up and said to him, ‘Master, I will follow you wherever you go.’ Jesus replied, ‘Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.’
    Another man, one of his disciples, said to him, ‘Sir, let me go and bury my father first.’ But Jesus replied, ‘Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their dead.’

Reflection
Today Christ gave 2 very important lesson. The first is the Son of Man has no place to lay his head. Christ while it is important to create treasure on earth we must always be ready to give up glory on earth for glory in God 's kingdom.  Secondly Christ said let the dead bury the dead. Christ was talking about do not dwell on the past but look forward to new life promised by Christ. Do we look forward to new life  with Christ our Lord and saviour.

Let us pray
Lord Jesus today you called us to pursue eternal life. Grant we pray we will not dwell in the past but live a life full of hope guided by you oh Lord.

Christ came to proclaim the good news

Gospel Luke 4:16-30 'This text is being fulfilled today, even as you listen' Jesus came to Nazara, where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day as he usually did. He stood up to read and they handed him the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. To accept Christ is life

Gospel John 5:17-30 The dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and all who hear it will live Jesus said to the Jews, ‘My Father goes on working, and so do I.’ But that only made them even more intent on killing him, because, not content with breaking the sabbath, he spoke of God as his own Father, and so made himself God’s equal.     To this accusation Jesus replied: ‘I tell you most solemnly, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees the Father doing: and whatever the Father does the Son does too.
