Reflection In the old testament Elijah was one of the greatest prophet calling for people to repent. John the Baptist had the same role . However both them suffered just like Christ suffered because the people refuse to listen to the good news and instead persecute the messenger. Why do people refuse to hear the good news? Gospel Matthew 11:16-19 The Spirit of your Father will be speaking in you Jesus spoke to the crowds: ‘What description can I find for this generation? It is like children shouting to each other as they sit in the market place: “We played the pipes for you, and you wouldn’t dance; we sang dirges, and you wouldn’t be mourners.” ‘For John came, neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He is possessed.” The Son of Man came, eating and drinking, and they say, “Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.” Yet wisdom has been proved right by her actions.’ Reflection When was the last time you said something to someone they refused to listen. This is what it meant when he said I played the pipe you refused to dance. On top they were very critical saying John the Baptist is possessed and  Christ a glutton. Christ in this passage is trying to tell everyone someone greater than  John the Baptist who is holding the gateway to heaven is here. Gospel Matthew 11:28-30 My yoke is easy and my burden light Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.’ Reflection Everyday all of us face all kind of challenges. The challenges can be so heavy it can bring us down. Similarly, it is never the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost.’ Reflection I remembered once I left my travelling bag in the bus. I panic because when I realised  the bus was gone and heading for another town. Luckily the bus stop at a station to take a break . I took the bag and fill with joy.
