John 15:18-21
The world hated me before it hated you

Jesus said to his disciples:

‘If the world hates you,
remember that it hated me before you.
If you belonged to the world,
the world would love you as its own;
but because you do not belong to the world,
because my choice withdrew you from the world,
therefore the world hates you.
Remember the words I said to you: A servant is not greater than his master.
If they persecuted me, they will persecute you too;
if they kept my word, they will keep yours as well.
But it will be on my account that they will do all this,
because they do not know the one who sent me.’

Reflection
I am sure many of you do not know St Maximilian. Father Maximilian was one of those who got arrested and sent to the death camp during world war 2. He will always be remembered for saving a young man who has a family from being executed. When they injected him with lethal injection he did two things before he died . He continued to share the good news and he never hold any grudge.
Today Christ talk about facing persecution in his name.He also reminded us it doesn't matter as we do not belong to this world. Are you willing to accept persecution in the name of Christ?

Let us pray
Lord Jesus, may the fire of your love fill my heart with an eagerness to please you in all things. May I accept there is no one greater than you in my life.

No respect for Christ or John

Gospel Matthew 11:16-19 They heed neither John nor the Son of Man Jesus spoke to the crowds: ‘What description can I find for this generation?
