Proclaim faith by action not words

Matthew 16:13-20

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi he put this question to his disciples, ‘Who do people say the Son of Man is?’ And they said, ‘Some say he is John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’ ‘But you,’ he said ‘who do you say I am?’ Then Simon Peter spoke up, ‘You are the Christ,’ he said, ‘the Son of the living God.’ Jesus replied, ‘Simon son of Jonah, you are a happy man! Because it was not flesh and blood that revealed this to you but my Father in heaven. So I now say to you: You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church. And the gates of the underworld can never hold out against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: whatever you bind on earth shall be considered bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth shall be considered loosed in heaven.’ Then he gave the disciples strict orders not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.

Reflection
2000 years ago Jesus ask the apostles who he was .Peter answered you are the Christ. With that our Lord said on you i will be my church. Peter became the first pope for the church. Jesus also said whatever you bound on earth will be bound in heaven Whatever you loose on earth you will loose in heaven.
Today Jesus ask us the same question. We can only answer through our action not by proclamation. We too are asked to stay united as a church under the pope. Finally we must be careful with our action for good or bad that we do is recorded and we will be answerable for our action.

Do we believe Jesus is the son of the living God ? Can we answer through our action?

Let us pray.
Oh Lord Jesus we know you are the living God. Grant we pray we can answer through our action which will be pleasing to you.

No respect for Christ or John

Gospel Matthew 11:16-19 They heed neither John nor the Son of Man Jesus spoke to the crowds: ‘What description can I find for this generation? It is like children shouting to each other as they sit in the market place: “We played the pipes for you, and you wouldn’t dance; we sang dirges, and you wouldn’t be mourners.” ‘For John came, neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He is possessed.” The Son of Man came, eating and drinking, and they say, “Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.” Yet wisdom has been proved right by her actions.’ Short Reflection Jesus paints a picture of a generation that refuses to be pleased, not because the message is flawed, but because their hearts are closed.
