Gospel
Matthew 22:34-40
When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees they got together and, to disconcert him, one of them put a question, ‘Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?’ Jesus said, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets also.’
Reflection
Three things will last forever--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love. I always remember this line which is found on 1Corinthian 13 :13
How suitable is it with the reading.
Jesus talks about love our God and love your neighbour.what Jesus did was summarise the ten commandment into two commandment.
Firstly Love Your God
Secondly love your neighbour as you love yourselves.
When you practice Jesus command God will come first and gone will be hatred for the people around you.
Do you really love God? Do you really love your neighbours?
Let us pray
Oh God grant we pray that no matter what circumstances we are in we will always love you and the people around us as we love ourselves.
Amen
