Jesus is the Lamp of hope

Gospel
Luke 8:16-18
A lamp is placed on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light.

Jesus said to the crowd: “No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light. Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away.”

Reflection
The purpose of the lamp is to brighten up a place which is dark. Imagine a room totally in darkness. Suddenly we light up the oil lamp to brighten up the room. What is the significant of this passage. The light represent. When we choose to be disciples of Christ we choose to be in the light . That light must continue to shine so that it will be a beacon of hope.

Let us pray
Lord Jesus you talk about the lamp that gives light to others. Grant we pray we too will continue to so others will have hope.
