Lord of the sabbath

Luke 6:1-5
Why are you doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?

While Jesus was going through a field of grain on a sabbath, his disciples were picking the heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands, and eating them. Some Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?” Jesus said to them in reply, “Have you not read what David did when he and those who were with him were hungry? How he went into the house of God, took the bread of offering, which only the priests could lawfully eat, ate of it, and shared it with his companions?” Then he said to them, “The Son of Man is lord of the sabbath.”

Reflection
Jesus did two things. He stressed the importance of food as nourishment to give strength to do his work. Secondly he declare he is lord of the sabbath Jesus stress the need of food to give strength to his work. We must show our respect of the sabbath by paying homage once a week every sunday.

Let us pray
Oh God give us strength to continue to be your witness. We also pray we will continue to keep the sabbath holy.
We pray in Jesus name.

God honour the faithful servant

Gospel John 5:17-30 The dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and all who hear it will live Jesus said to the Jews, ‘My Father goes on working, and so do I.’ But that only made them even more intent on killing him, because, not content with breaking the sabbath, he spoke of God as his own Father, and so made himself God’s equal.
