Gospel
Luke 6:12-16
From them Jesus chose Twelve, whom he also named Apostles.
Jesus went up to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God. When day came, he called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named Apostles: Simon, whom he named Peter, and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called a Zealot, and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
Reflection
Jesus chose 12 apostles after praying. The two most significant apostles are Simon whom he named Peter and Judas the traitor. Both had sin against Jesus. However Peter cried and in humility seek forgiveness. Judas was also remorseful but because of pride he ended his life. In life Jesus knew we will fall but he want us to pick up ourselves in humility and seek forgiveness. Only than can we be better follower of Christ.
Let us pray.
Lord Jesuswe are sinners. However in humility we pray help us through the power of the holy spirit continue to admit our failure like St Peter. Only that way can be reconciled with you and be called your disciple.
Amen
