Jesus determination respect merciful

Luke 9:51-56
He resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem.

When the days for Jesus to be taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem, and he sent messengers ahead of him. On the way they entered a Samaritan village to prepare for his reception there, but they would not welcome him because the destination of his journey was Jerusalem. When the disciples James and John saw this they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?” Jesus turned and rebuked them, and they journeyed to another village.

Reflection
In this Gospel reading Jesus shared three qualities. 1.Determination. He was determined to go to Jerusalem . Respect. He was not welcome to a samaritan town. He accepted. 3. Merciful. Unlike his disciples Jesus was merciful. Are we determined like Jesus in our journey of faith? Are we respectful and merciful of the people around us?

Let us pray.
Lord Jesus you showed 3 quailities to enter the kingdom of God. Determination respect and mercy . Grant we pray we shall inherit the same qualities as we continue this journey of faith formation.

No respect for Christ or John
