Gospel
Luke 12:35-38
Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival.
Jesus said to his disciples: “Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding, ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them. And should he come in the second or third watch and find them prepared in this way, blessed are those servants.”
Reflection
There are a number of passages in the bible talking about readiness. These passages always remind us to be prepared for death which will come at anytime. Two words touches me in this passage. The first is the lamp. The lamp represent living in the light. That means living a spotless life away from the evil one which represent darkness. The second is being prepared. Being prepared means being ready to meet our maker when he calls. In other word being prepared means to live like Christ would live. Are we prepared to meet our maker?
Let us pray
Lord Jesus today you remind us to be prepared at all times because you can recall us at anytime Grant we beseech you to give us the gift to walk in the light as we continue in our journey of faith.
Amen
