Judgement day

Gospel
Luke 17:26-37
So it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed.

Jesus said to his disciples: “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man; they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage up to the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Similarly, as it was in the days of Lot: they were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building; on the day when Lot left Sodom, fire and brimstone rained from the sky to destroy them all. So it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed. On that day, someone who is on the housetop and whose belongings are in the house must not go down to get them, and likewise one in the field must not return to what was left behind. Remember the wife of Lot. Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will save it. I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one bed; one will be taken, the other left. And there will be two women grinding meal together; one will be taken, the other left.” They said to him in reply, “Where, Lord?” He said to them, “Where the body is, there also the vultures will gather.”

Reflection
This reading gives a grim tale . During the time of Noah everyone died because of the big flood except for those in Noah 's ark During the time Sodom a big fire ate up the people except for Lot . His wife turn into salt because she looks back. On judgement day those who follow Christ and live in his way will be taken to heaven. Those who reject Christ their soul will be thrown to the fires of hell while their body eaten by vultures. When we choose Christ there is no looking back. Are we prepared for judgement day if and when it comes?

Let us pray
Lord Jesus you are always reminding us to aim for eternal life in your kingdom of heaven. As sinners we keep on falling to the way of  the world. Lord we want to be with you in heaven so guide us through the holy spirit as we carry our crosses everyday.

God honour the faithful servant

Gospel Luke 17:7-10 You are merely servants Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Which of you, with a servant ploughing or minding sheep, would say to him when he returned from the fields, “Come and have your meal immediately”? Would he not be more likely to say, “Get my supper laid; make yourself tidy and wait on me while I eat and drink. You can eat and drink yourself afterwards”? Must he be grateful to the servant for doing what he was told? So with you: when you have done all you have been told to do, say, “We are merely servants: we have done no more than our duty.”’ Reflection  God honors the faithful servant who loves and serves others generously. He is ever ready to work in and through us for his glory. We must remember, however, that God can never be indebted to us. We have no claim on him. His love compels us to give him our best!
