Love Our God More

Gospel
Luke 14:25-33
Everyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.

Great crowds were traveling with Jesus, and he turned and addressed them, “If anyone comes to me without hating his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. Which of you wishing to construct a tower does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if there is enough for its completion? Otherwise, after laying the foundation and finding himself unable to finish the work the onlookers should laugh at him and say, ‘This one began to build but did not have the resources to finish.’ Or what king marching into battle would not first sit down and decide whether with ten thousand troops he can successfully oppose another king advancing upon him with twenty thousand troops? But if not, while he is still far away, he will send a delegation to ask for peace terms. In the same way, everyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.”

Reflection
The reading is about loving God more it is about the commandment Christ gave  You must love the lord your God with all your heart with all your might and with all your strength. You must love your neighbour as yourself. That means Love and put God  first and the rest second. For that there is a price to pay.Remember if we are not willing to pay the price we are not fit for the kingdom of God. Jesus said you must calculate the cost and pay the price. Have we calculated the cost of being with Christ and are we willing to pay the price?

Let us pray
Lord Jesus you knew there is a price to pay to be your disciple. You even said those who are not fit to carry this burden is not fit for the kingdom of God. Grant give us the strength through the power of the holy spirit to continue to be your disciples despite the crosses we face in life.

God honour the faithful servant

Gospel Luke 17:7-10 You are merely servants Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Which of you, with a servant ploughing or minding sheep, would say to him when he returned from the fields, “Come and have your meal immediately”? Would he not be more likely to say, “Get my supper laid; make yourself tidy and wait on me while I eat and drink. You can eat and drink yourself afterwards”?
