Least is greater

Gospel
Matthew 11:11-15
None greater than John the Baptist has been born.

Jesus said to the crowds: “Amen, I say to you, among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent are taking it by force. All the prophets and the law prophesied up to the time of John. And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, the one who is to come. Whoever has ears ought to hear.”

Reflection
Before the coming of Christ, John the baptist was the greatest. When Christ came all this change . He speaks with authority. Today we too are greater than John the baptist because we are followers of Christ. We live in his way and we are guided by his words in the gospel. Do we believe we are greater than John the baptist? Do we believe Christ is the greatest?

Let us pray
Lord Jesus you have come down to earth with authority because you are the son of God. Grant we pray we will always remain loyal to you by reading the Gospel and share the good news.

His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before they came to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
