The Resurrection

John 20:1a,2-8
The other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first.

On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we do not know where they put him.” So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first; he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in. When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed.

Reflection
When I look at this reading i began to wonder why on such joyous occassion the reading was on the ressurrection.I did some research and the answer came to light . The reading is to make sure we realise Christ sole purpose is to save mankind. He must come down to earth ,live and die. On the third day he will rise again in fulfillment of the scriptures. He came to this world not to do his will but the Father's will. Our Father in heaven had only one plan the salvation of mankind. We are part of that plan by oir words ,action and deed. Let is go forth and proclaim the kingdom of God.

Let us pray
Lord Jesus you came into this world to live ,die and rose again. You did your part in the salvation of mankind. Grant we pray we will do our part in this work of salvation.

Answer to the parable of the Sower
