Do Good on the Sabbath

Mark 3:1-6
Is it lawful on the sabbath to save life rather than to destroy it?

Jesus entered the synagogue. There was a man there who had a withered hand. They watched Jesus closely to see if he would cure him on the sabbath so that they might accuse him. He said to the man with the withered hand, “Come up here before us.” Then he said to the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil, to save life rather than to destroy it?” But they remained silent. Looking around at them with anger and grieved at their hardness of heart, Jesus said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out and his hand was restored. The Pharisees went out and immediately took counsel with the Herodians against him to put him to death.

Reflection
Keep the sabbath Holy. In the olden days the sabbath day is the day when people go and pray. It is a day of rest. Jesus add to that. The sabbath is a day to be kept holy but also a day to do good for the church.Today the sabbath day is a a day when people go to church. It is also a day when we can do good by helping in sunday school or helping migrants.Do we do more good on Sunday?

Let us pray.
Lord Jesus beside going to mass on sunday we are expected to do more good. Grant we pray we will have a charitable heart to do more good.

God honour the faithful servant

Gospel John 5:17-30 The dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and all who hear it will live Jesus said to the Jews, ‘My Father goes on working, and so do I.’ But that only made them even more intent on killing him, because, not content with breaking the sabbath, he spoke of God as his own Father, and so made himself God’s equal.
