Gospel Mark 1:12-15 Jesus was tempted by Satan, and the angels looked after him The Spirit drove Jesus out into the wilderness and he remained there for forty days, and was tempted by Satan. When I look at this passage I realised Satan tries to tempt us everyday but more so during lent. During lent we make a commitment to fast,give alm and pray so that we can prepare for the resurrection. The devil  want us to stop that commitment. Gospel Matthew 9:14-15 When the bridegroom is taken from them, then they will fast John’s disciples came to Jesus and said, ‘Why is it that we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not?’ Jesus replied, ‘Surely the bridegroom’s attendants would never think of mourning as long as the bridegroom is still with them? But the time will come for the bridegroom to be taken away from them, and then they will fast.’ Reflection What is fasting during lent? A lot of people associate fasting with food which is a right thing to do. However there are other forms of fasting like doing away from smoking,drinking alcohol or even watching television. We do this because it is pleasing to God. It is sending a message while I love this but I love God more. What are we willing to give up during this season of lent? Let us pray Lord Jesus we love you. Reflection When i look at this reading the Pharisees were looking for signs to bring Jesus down. Today the people even those follower of Christ are no different. They go to the feng shui master, read the horoscope and visit palm reader looking for signs of how to increase wealth. Little do we realise this is questioning our faith in God? Are you one of those who seek the fengshui master or read the horoscope? Let us pray Lord Jesus this reading tells us we dont need a sign for you are the sign of salvation.
