Lent reminds us of the wilderness

Mark 1:12-15
Jesus was tempted by Satan, and the angels looked after him

The Spirit drove Jesus out into the wilderness and he remained there for forty days, and was tempted by Satan. He was with the wild beasts, and the angels looked after him.
After John had been arrested, Jesus went into Galilee. There he proclaimed the Good News from God. ‘The time has come’ he said ‘and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the Good News.’

Reflection
Jesus was in the wilderness tempted by Satan but the angel look after him. When I look at this passage I realised Satan tries to tempt us everyday but more so during lent. During lent we make a commitment to fast,give alm and pray so that we can prepare for the resurrection. The devil want us to stop that commitment. How do we protect ourselves from Satan so that we can fulfill our lent commitment?

Let us pray
Lord Jesus for forty days you fast as you prepare for your ministry. Grant we pray we too will observe lent the way which will be pleasing to you .

Answer to the parable of the Sower
