Gospel
John 6:44-51
I am the living bread which has come down from heaven
Jesus said to the crowd:
‘No one can come to me
unless he is drawn by the Father who sent me,
and I will raise him up at the last day.
It is written in the prophets:
They will all be taught by God,
and to hear the teaching of the Father,
and learn from it,
is to come to me.
Not that anybody has seen the Father,
except the one who comes from God:
he has seen the Father.
I tell you most solemnly,
everybody who believes has eternal life.
‘I am the bread of life.
Your fathers ate the manna in the desert
and they are dead;
but this is the bread that comes down from heaven,
so that a man may eat it and not die.
I am the living bread which has come down from heaven.
Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever;
and the bread that I shall give is my flesh,
for the life of the world.’
Reflection
Two days ago Christ revealed he came from heaven. Yesterday he talked about having faith in him. Today Christ revealed to enter the kingdom of God you must eat the bread and drinks the wine for the bread and wine are his body and blood . Do you believe during communion you are receiving the body of Christ?
Let us pray.
Lord Jesus thank you for giving us the body and blood for eternal life. May we always honour the bread of life and the chalice of salvation .
Amen
Yes Jesus is the Bread of Life. It's a great blessing that comes with Faith in the real presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist. When He strongly stressed that it is His Body and Blood, why should we doubt. It is without corporal benefit not to believe. He is presence to us not in His Death Body but His Glorious and resurrected Body with Victorious Power and Authority over our human weakness and faculties. He commands, our souls submit and bow. He commands our human spirits are silence and obey. He commands our hearts too submit and indeed nothing in our bodies will ever has the power to go against the Words and Authorities of God in Jesus Christ. Amen.
