Look up to the Cross

Gospel
John 3:7-15
No-one has gone up to heaven except the Son of Man who has come down from heaven

Jesus said to Nicodemus:

‘Do not be surprised when I say:
You must be born from above.
The wind blows wherever it pleases;
you hear its sound,
but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.
That is how it is with all who are born of the Spirit.’

‘How can that be possible?’ asked Nicodemus. ‘You, a teacher in Israel, and you do not know these things!’ replied Jesus.

‘I tell you most solemnly,
we speak only about what we know
and witness only to what we have seen
and yet you people reject our evidence.
If you do not believe me when I speak about things in this world,
how are you going to believe me when I speak to you about heavenly things?
No one has gone up to heaven
except the one who came down from heaven,
the Son of Man who is in heaven;
and the Son of Man must be lifted up
as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert,
so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.’

Reflection
In the book of the king ,Moses was asked by God to built a bronze serpent statue so that the Israelites will be save from the snakes that bite them. What they do is look up at the statue. Today we look up at the cross for there is our Lord who has save us from sin and bring salvation to the world. We are to listen to his words . Where do we find God's word beside in the bible.

Let us pray
Lord Jesus may we always look up to the cross to remind us that your death has brought forgiveness of sin and salvation to the world

Christ came to proclaim the good news

Gospel Luke 4:16-30 'This text is being fulfilled today, even as you listen' Jesus came to Nazara, where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day as he usually did. Gospel John 5:17-30 The dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and all who hear it will live Jesus said to the Jews, ‘My Father goes on working, and so do I.’ But that only made them even more intent on killing him, because, not content with breaking the sabbath, he spoke of God as his own Father, and so made himself God’s equal.     To this accusation Jesus replied: ‘I tell you most solemnly, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees the Father doing: and whatever the Father does the Son does too.
