John the disciple

John 21:20-25
This disciple is the one who vouches for these things and we know that his testimony is true

Peter turned and saw the disciple Jesus loved following them – the one who had leaned on his breast at the supper and had said to him, ‘Lord, who is it that will betray you?’ Seeing him, Peter said to Jesus, ‘What about him, Lord?’ Jesus answered, ‘If I want him to stay behind till I come, what does it matter to you? You are to follow me.’ The rumour then went out among the brothers that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus had not said to Peter, ‘He will not die’, but, ‘If I want him to stay behind till I come.’
    This disciple is the one who vouches for these things and has written them down, and we know that his testimony is true.
    There were many other things that Jesus did; if all were written down, the world itself, I suppose, would not hold all the books that would have to be written.

Reflection
Today the reading is related to john son of zebedee. John was responsible for writing one of the gospel . When Christ said John will not die he was referring to the gospel written by John which will last till the end of time. Why it will last is because it acts as a witness of Christ till the second coming. Do you realise we too are witness of Christ because the word has been handed down to us.

Let us pray
Lord Jesus your word is a lamp under my feet and a light unto my life. May this light shine upon everyone so that no one will live in darkness.

Christ came to proclaim the good news

Gospel Luke 4:16-30 'This text is being fulfilled today, even as you listen' Jesus came to Nazara, where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day as he usually did. To accept Christ is life
