Gospel
Luke 17:7-10
We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.
Jesus said to the Apostles: “Who among you would say to your servant who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, ‘Come here immediately and take your place at table’? Would he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for me to eat. Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink. You may eat and drink when I am finished’? Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded? So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.’”
Reflection
In this reading Christ send us a reminder a servant must wait on his master regardless on how much work he has put in. He should neither expect a thank you. After all they're are merely servant . Today we should serve God without expecting anything in return nor can we demand. Do we serve God and expect something in return?
Let us pray
Lord Jesus we are here to serve you.Serving you means doing our best we can do without expecting anything in return. Grant we pray we will serve you the rest of our life as what is expected of us as your servant.
Amen
