Gospel
John 12:24-26
If a grain of wheat falls on the ground and dies, it yields a rich harvest
Jesus said to his disciples:
‘I tell you, most solemnly,
unless a wheat grain falls on the ground and dies,
it remains only a single grain;
but if it dies,
it yields a rich harvest.
Anyone who loves his life loses it;
anyone who hates his life in this world
will keep it for the eternal life.
If a man serves me, he must follow me,
wherever I am, my servant will be there too.
If anyone serves me, my Father will honour him.’
Reflection
This reading Christ is trying to share about his death . His death is meant to restore mankind relationship with the Father. It is meant to bring salvation. As you can see death marks the death of sin. The resurrection marks the beginning of new life . The ascension marks the return to his kingdom and preparing a place for us. Finally it was pentecost the beginning of the church. All these are related to the grain of wheat that dies and multiplies.
Let us pray
Lord Jesus by dying you gave us salvation. Thank you oh Lord for now we can live and go back to the Father.
Amen
