Gospel
Luke 11:37-41
Give thanks for what you have and it will all be clean
Jesus had just finished speaking when a Pharisee invited him to dine at his house. He went in and sat down at the table. The Pharisee saw this and was surprised that he had not first washed before the meal. But the Lord said to him, ‘Oh, you Pharisees! You clean the outside of cup and plate, while inside yourselves you are filled with extortion and wickedness. Fools! Did not he who made the outside make the inside too? Instead, give alms from what you have and then indeed everything will be clean for you.’
Reflection
How does evil take place? It begins with a thought strengthen by an evil desire which is than translated into action
As we can see from this we cannot see a man's heart for an evil activity which is about to take place. A good example is Judas. No human can see what he is about to do. What can we learn from this? God do not want who look holy outside but full of evilness inside. How do you see yourself?
Let us pray
Lord Jesus, fill me with your love and increase my thirst for holiness. Cleanse my heart of every evil thought and desire and help me to act kindly and justly.
Amen
