Gospel
John 15:9-11
Remain in my love
Jesus said to his disciples:
‘As the Father has loved me,
so I have loved you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments
you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love.
I have told you this
so that my own joy may be in you
and your joy be complete.’
Reflection
In this passage from John 15:9-11, Jesus invites us into a profound relationship of love and obedience. He draws a parallel between the love He shares with the Father and the love He extends to us, emphasizing that remaining in His love is not just about feeling cherished, but also about actively keeping His commandments. This call to obedience is not burdensome; rather, it is the pathway to experiencing true joy—His joy, which completes our own.
As we reflect on this message, we are reminded that love is dynamic and reciprocal. Just as Jesus remains in the Father's love, we are called to dwell in His love through our actions and choices. This commitment leads us to a deeper joy that transcends fleeting happiness.
Question for Reflection: How can I actively remain in Jesus' love this week, and what commandments can I focus on to deepen that relationship?
Prayer
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the incredible love You have for us, a love that mirrors the relationship You share with the Father. Help us to remain in Your love by keeping Your commandments and living out Your teachings in our daily lives. May Your joy fill our hearts and overflow into our actions, bringing light to those around us. Guide us as we seek to deepen our relationship with You and embody Your love in the world. Amen.
