Gospel
John 14:15-16,23-26
The Holy Spirit will teach you everything
Jesus said to his disciples:
‘If you love me you will keep my commandments.
I shall ask the Father,
and he will give you another Advocate
to be with you for ever.
‘If anyone loves me he will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we shall come to him and make our home with him.
Those who do not love me do not keep my words.
And my word is not my own:
it is the word of the one who sent me.
I have said these things to you while still with you;
but the Advocate, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you everything
and remind you of all I have said to you.
Reflection on John 14:15-16, 23-26
In this passage, Jesus promises the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, who will be with us forever. This Spirit is not only a comforter but also a teacher who will guide us in truth and remind us of Jesus’ words. Loving Jesus means keeping His commandments, and through this love, we experience a profound relationship with the Father and the Son, who make their home within us. It is a beautiful reminder that faith is not just belief but a living connection sustained by the Spirit’s presence and guidance.
Question for reflection:
How open am I to allowing the Holy Spirit to teach and guide me in my daily life?
Prayer
Loving Father,
Thank you for sending us the Holy Spirit, our Advocate and guide. Help me to love You more deeply by keeping Your commandments and opening my heart to the Spirit’s teaching. May Your presence dwell within me, reminding me always of Your Son’s words and love. Strengthen my faith and lead me in Your truth each day.
Amen.
