Gospel
John 16:12-15
The Spirit of truth will lead you to the complete truth
Jesus said to his disciples:
‘I still have many things to say to you
but they would be too much for you now.
But when the Spirit of truth comes
he will lead you to the complete truth,
since he will not be speaking as from himself
but will say only what he has learnt;
and he will tell you of the things to come.
He will glorify me,
since all he tells you
will be taken from what is mine.
Everything the Father has is mine;
that is why I said:
All he tells you
will be taken from what is mine.’
Reflection:
In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks of the Spirit of truth who will guide us into all truth. This Spirit is not speaking on His own authority but will reveal what He has learned from Jesus and the Father. It reminds us that the guidance of the Holy Spirit is rooted in the divine relationship between the Father, Son, and Spirit. The Spirit’s role is to lead us deeper into understanding, truth, and the fullness of life that Jesus offers. As we navigate our daily lives, we are invited to be attentive to the Spirit’s prompting, trusting that the Spirit will reveal what is true and help us align our lives more closely with Christ’s teachings.
**Question for reflection:
How am I allowing the Holy Spirit to guide my decisions and deepen my understanding of God's truth in my life?
---
Short Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth who guides us into all understanding. Help us to be attentive to His voice, to trust in His guidance, and to open our hearts to the fullness of the truth found in Your Son, Jesus Christ. Fill us with the Spirit’s wisdom and lead us ever closer to You. May we be receptive to His prompting and faithful in following where He leads.
Amen.
