Matthew 11:25-27
You have hidden these things from the wise and revealed them to little children
Jesus exclaimed, ‘I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children. Yes, Father, for that is what it pleased you to do. Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, just as no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.’
Reflection:**
In this passage, Jesus expresses gratitude to the Father for revealing profound truths to those who are humble and open-hearted, rather than to the "learned and clever." It reminds us that God's wisdom often reveals itself in ways that challenge worldly notions of knowledge and strength. True understanding of the divine comes through childlike trust, humility, and openness to God's revelation. Jesus emphasizes the intimate relationship between the Father and the Son, and how this divine knowledge is entrusted to those whom Jesus chooses to reveal it. This invites us to reflect on our own openness to God's mystery — are we willing to approach God with childlike trust, allowing ourselves to be guided by divine revelation rather than solely relying on our own understanding?
**Question for Reflection:**
How might I cultivate a childlike humility and openness to God's revealing truth in my life today?
**Short Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, thank you for revealing your divine truth to those who come with humble hearts and trusting spirits. Help me to let go of my pride and cleverness, and instead approach you with childlike faith. Open my eyes and heart to your mystery, and guide me to know you more deeply through your Son, Jesus Christ. May I always seek to be receptive to your revelations and trust in your loving plan. Amen.
