Gospel
Matthew 19:13-15
Do not stop the little children coming to me
People brought little children to Jesus, for him to lay his hands on them and say a prayer. The disciples turned them away, but Jesus said, ‘Let the little children alone, and do not stop them coming to me; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.’ Then he laid his hands on them and went on his way.
Gospel Reflection – Matthew 19:13-15
In this passage, Jesus shows his deep love and concern for children, who were often overlooked or undervalued in society. His words remind us that the kingdom of heaven belongs to those who are humble, trusting, and open-hearted—just like children. Jesus not only welcomed the children but also blessed them, showing that no one is too small or insignificant in God's eyes. We are called to approach God with the same innocence and trust, and to never be a barrier to others, especially the vulnerable, who seek His love.
Question for Reflection:
Do I welcome others with the same love and openness that Jesus showed to the little children?
Short Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding me of the value of childlike faith and trust. Help me to welcome others with an open heart and to never stand in the way of anyone seeking You. May I always come to You with humility and love. Amen.
