Gospel
Luke 9:1-6
'Take nothing for the journey'
Jesus called the Twelve together and gave them power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. He said to them, ‘Take nothing for the journey: neither staff, nor haversack, nor bread, nor money; and let none of you take a spare tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there; and when you leave, let it be from there. As for those who do not welcome you, when you leave their town shake the dust from your feet as a sign to them.’ So they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the Good News and healing everywhere.
**Reflection:**
In today’s Gospel, Jesus instructs His disciples to go out without relying on worldly possessions—no staff, bread, money, or spare tunic. This teaches us the importance of trusting in God's provision and focusing on the mission rather than material security. It reminds us that sharing the Good News requires dependence on God's guidance and grace, and that sometimes, we must let go of our attachments to fully embrace our call to serve others.
**Question for Reflection:**
How can I trust more fully in God's provision when I feel the urge to hold on to security or comfort?
**Short Prayer:**
Lord Jesus, strengthen my faith to trust in Your provision. Help me to serve others selflessly, without fear or attachment to material things. Guide me to be obedient to Your call and to share Your love with courage. Amen.
