Gospel
Luke 10:21-24
No-one knows who the Son is except the Father
Filled with joy by the Holy Spirit, Jesus said:
‘I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children. Yes, Father, for that is what it pleased you to do. Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.’
Then turning to his disciples he spoke to them in private, ‘Happy the eyes that see what you see, for I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see, and never saw it; to hear what you hear, and never heard it.’
Short Reflection
In this passage, Jesus rejoices that the mysteries of God are revealed not to the proud or learned, but to the humble and childlike. True understanding of the Father and the Son is not earned through intellect, but received through grace. The disciples are blessed—not because they are great—but because they are chosen to witness what generations longed for. This is a reminder that spiritual insight is a gift, and that joy flows from intimacy with God.
❓ Question for Reflection
Do I approach God with childlike openness, or do I rely on my own understanding?
🙏 Short Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for revealing the Father to those who seek with humble hearts. Help me to see with the eyes of faith and receive Your truth with simplicity and joy. May I never take for granted the grace of knowing You. Amen.
