Gospel Matthew 18:1-5, 10 Their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father. What are the qualities of a children ? 1. Innocence like a piece of white cloth not tainted. 2. Frank in their opinion. They speak their mind. 3. They are very much loved . 4. Jesus came to call Sinners

Gospel Matthew 21:28–32 He changed his mind and went. Tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of heaven before you. Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people: “What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He came to the first and said, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ He said in reply, ‘I will not,’ but afterwards changed his mind and went. The man came to the other son and gave the same order. He said in reply, ‘Yes, sir,’ but did not go. Which of the two did his father’s will?” They answered, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you. When John came to you in the way of righteousness, you did not believe him; but tax collectors and prostitutes did. Do we know Jesus plan for Us?

Gospel Luke 9:43b-45 The Son of Man is to be handed over to men. They were afraid to ask him about this saying. While they were all amazed at his every deed, Jesus said to his disciples, “Pay attention to what I am telling you. The Son of Man is to be handed over to men.” But they did not understand this saying; its meaning was hidden from them so that they should not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying. Reflection This reading Jesus surrendered himself to man . This reading share with us three things. Firstly it is about humility of our lord to allow himself to be surrendered to mankind. Secondly we will never understand unless we pray for God revelation. GOD 's plan is not our plan .Are we humble in our way ? Do we pray for God to guide us on his plan. Jesus is calling all of Us

Gospel John 1:47-51 You will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man. Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Here is a true child of Israel. There is no duplicity in him.” Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.” Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this.” And he said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” Reflection Jesus called and nathaniel became a disciple . He told him you will see greater things. Today God call us by our name . He wants us to join him to see him in eternal glory. We need to ask ourselves are we truly his disciples. For Jesus be the Glory

Gospel Luke 9:7-9 John I beheaded. Who then is this about whom I hear such things? Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, and he was greatly perplexed because some were saying, “John has been raised from the dead”; others were saying, “Elijah has appeared”; still others, “One of the ancient prophets has arisen.” But Herod said, “John I beheaded. Who then is this about whom I hear such things?” And he kept trying to see him. Reflection Jesus work of evangelisation preceed him   until a person of authority like Herod also begin to wonder. This reading gives us a message when proclaiming the word of God it may bring unwanted attention This unwanted attention may result in persecution. Are we willing to face the persecution ? Let us pray Lord Jesus you have shown us by being your witness we are faced with persecution. Grant us the strength to  continue to be disciples of the word despite the obstacles and challenges we face . Amen

Go and make disciples for Jesus

Gospel Luke 9:1-6 He sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.” Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere. Reflection The day we are baptise Jesus has given us authority to proclaim the kingdom of God and pray for healing for our neighbours . However there are many who do not use this authority because of fear,lack of faith and conform to the way of the world. How is our faith? Are we using this authority given by c

Listen and act on the word of God

Gospel Luke 8:19-21 My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it. The mother of Jesus and his brothers came to him but were unable to join him because of the crowd. He was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside and they wish to see you.” He said to them in reply, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.” Reflection My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it . Like the parable the of the seed our Lord Jesus remind us the importance word of God  and act on it . Do we read the word of God. Do we act by practicing the word of God and sharing the word of God. Let us pray Lord Jesus you remind us the importance of the word of God and to act on it. Many days in our life we do not read the bible even though it is food for the soul . Grant we pray that we will have the discipline to read the word and act on it . Amen

Jesus is the Lamp of hope

Gospel Luke 8:16-18 A lamp is placed on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. Jesus said to the crowd: “No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light. Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away.” Reflection The purpose of the lamp is to brighten up a place which is dark. Imagine a room totally in darkness.  Suddenly we light up the oil lamp to brighten up the room. What is the significant of this passage. The light represent. When we choose to be disciples of Christ we choose to be in the light . That light must continue to shine so that it will be a beacon of hope. Let us pray Lord Jesus you talk about the lamp that gives light to others.

GOD loves us as We ARE

Gospel Matthew 20:1–16a Are you envious because I am generous? Jesus told his disciples this parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out at dawn to hire laborers for his vineyard. After agreeing with them for the usual daily wage, he sent them into his vineyard. Who are followers of Jesus

Gospel Luke 8:1-3 Accompanying them were some women, who provided for them out of their resources. Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources. Reflection Christ went from town to town proclaiming the word of God. Following are a group who were lost but were saved. Thirdly many also donated . Today Christ expect us to share about him. There are many lost and hungry souls out there. If we cant proclaim we can help by donating our resources. Let us pray. Lord Jesus as during your time there are many lost and hungry souls. Jesus said follow me

P Gospel Matthew 9:9-13 Follow me. And he got up and followed him. As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples. The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” Reflection Jesus said to Mathew ,come follow me. He sat with tax collectors and sinners which upset the pharisees . Jesus said no healthy people need a doctor Today this message means Jesus is still calling people to follow him. His door is always open to everyone including sinners. As witnesses we are responsible to share the good news and bring more people t

Gospel Luke 7:31-35 We played the flute for you, but you did not dance. We sang a dirge, but you did not weep. Jesus said to the crowds: “To what shall I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? Firstly they are not interested in the word of God. Secondly they are very critical . Everything said and done are wrong. Today what we face is no different. We have many who do not know the word of God. There are many who are critical of the faith. That i

Gospel Luke 7:11-17 Young man, I tell you, arise! Jesus journeyed to a city called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd accompanied him. As he drew near to the gate of the city, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. A large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, he was moved with pity for her and said to her, “Do not weep.” He stepped forward and touched the coffin; at this the bearers halted, and he said, “Young man, I tell you, arise!” The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother. Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, exclaiming, “A great prophet has arisen in our midst,” and “God has visited his people.” This report about him spread through the whole of Judea and in all the surrounding region. A Loving Mother Weeping

Gospel John 19:25-27 How that loving mother was pierced with grief and anguish when she saw the sufferings of her Son (Stabat Mater). Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. Reflection I can still picture there was Jesus on the cross in agony and about to die. Despite all this he was still able to ask our mother Mary to take the disciples as her sons and to the disciples her mother. To me that moment is a moment of love. When we are faced with trials and obstacles are we able to express love? If we cant, go back to this passage. John 3 :16

Gospel John 3:13-17 So the Son of Man must be lifted up. Jesus said to Nicodemus: “No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man. And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”     For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Reflection For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.This is one of the most famous quote in the bible. The most important part to me is those who believe will not perish but have eternal life. Here again the gospel stress on believe or faith. How strong is our faith? Is it strong enough for us to share with others?

Blessed are you who are poor

Gospel Luke 6:20-26 Blessed are you who are poor. Woe to you who are rich. Raising his eyes toward his disciples Jesus said: “Blessed are you who are poor,     for the Kingdom of God is yours. Do What Is Right

Gospel Luke 6:1-5 Why are you doing what is unlawful on the sabbath? While Jesus was going through a field of grain on a sabbath, his disciples were picking the heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands, and eating them. Some Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?” Jesus said to them in reply, “Have you not read what David did when he and those who were with him were hungry? How he went into the house of God, took the bread of offering, which only the priests could lawfully eat, ate of it, and shared it with his companions?” Then he said to them, “The Son of Man is lord of the sabbath.” Reflection Jesus did two things. He stressed the importance of food as nourishment to give strength to do his work. Secondly he declare he is lord of the sabbath Jesus stress the need of food to give strength to his work. Gospel Luke 5:1-11 They left everything and followed Jesus. While the crowd was pressing in on Jesus and listening to the word of God, he was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret. He saw two boats there alongside the lake; the fishermen had disembarked and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, he asked him to put out a short distance from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. God is with us

Jesus speak with authority

Gospel Luke 4:31-37 I know who you are–the Holy One of God! Jesus went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee. He taught them on the sabbath, and they were astonished at his teaching because he spoke with authority. In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out in a loud voice, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are–the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said, “Be quiet! Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down in front of them and came out of him without doing him any harm. They were all amazed and said to one another, “What is there about his word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” And news of him spread everywhere in the surrounding region. Gospel Luke 4:16-30 He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor. No prophet is accepted in his own native place. Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Gospel Matthew 24:42-51 Jesus said to his disciples: “Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.     “Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household to distribute to them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so. Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property.
